Notes from Day 1 of Steelers Minicamp

Back from vacation and what a good two week rest that was.  It seems there was a lot going on while I was away.  I won’t go backwards in time but I will pick back up now that I am back.

Here are some notes from Minicamp Day 1:

  • Mike Wallace did not show up to camp as expected.  Wallace did not make his return and that is no surprise.  Wallace is still in contract negotiations with the Steelers and is holding out.  Both parties are optimistic to get a deal done and Wallace wants to be a Steeler so there is nothing to really worry about.
  • David DeCastro and Mike Adams finally got to practice.  Both rookies were held out due to school dynamics and finally were able to practice.  Both started out with the second team offense.  They were in their correct positions though.  Adams was at LT and DeCastro was at RG.
  • Curtis Brown, James Harrison, and Jason Worilds all sat out of practice due to injury.
  • Casey Hampton and Rashard Mendenhall worked out on the sidelines while recovering from their knee surgeries.
  • Ben Roethlisberger is getting more comfortable in the offense and his teammates are noticing.

The Steelers practice again today.  They have 2 days left of minicamp.
