Last night was the NHL All Star Draft for the game this weekend. I think this is so genius and so much fun to have two captains pick their own team rather than just doing East versus the West. Could you imagine if the NFL did the Pro Bowl like that? The two captains were Ottawa’s Daniel Alfredsson and Boston’s Zdeno Chara.
I was a little surprised that Evgeni Malkin lasted until pick #5 overall, 3rd on Team Chara. Being that he is leading the league in points right now, I expected him to be pick one or two. The Penguins Kris Letang went next at pick #10 to Team Alfredsson, with James Neal bringing up the rear for the Penguins at pick #28 was also picked to Team Alfredsson. That left Malkin all by his lonesome on Team Chara. I was kind of hoping to have the dynamic duo together on the same team so they could dominate the All Star game. My dream obviously did not come true, but should still make for some fun this weekend.
Glad to see 3 of our very deserving guys involved with the All Star game this weekend. The game will be played on Sunday at 4pm. If you want to check out the full rosters you can see them at the NHL’s website.
