Steelers Round Up: Wild Hunter, Fashion Shows and Top Tens

It’s hard to believe we are entering December football with today being the end of November.  Hopefully the Steelers will continue on the right path this week against the Bengals.  It’s a big game, and getting out with a W keeps us in the division race and a definite wild card spot if nothing else.  The players have been busy this week with all kinds of stuff.

  • Rookie TE Weslye Saunders had a big week after making a beautiful catch in the endzone for his first NFL touchdown.  If that wasn’t enough he made it on ESPN’s Top Plays on Monday.  He took to twitter (@Wes_Sauders88) to share his glee.  I have to imagine that’s a quite a feeling seeing yourself on an ESPN top play list:

Pops said he saw my play on Sportscenter top 10 plays…but its kinda late. He may be delusional lol

I’m loving proof that you ain’t gotta die to go to heaven… #Drizzy

  • Brett Keisel did some hunting this week and caught himself quite a deer.  Check out the picture of Keisel with his deer right here and his next tweet gave you all the info about the kill.

My 8 pt was shot yesterday in Western PA with my Ruger 25-06 “diesel 99” 1 shot kill at about 120 yrds. Deer was 100% wild, so is hunter.

  • Speaking of Brett Keisel, this has been a busy week for him, shooting a deer, being nominated as the Steelers Man of the Year and he’s hosting the 20th Annual Fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis on Friday.  It looks like there are still tickets available, so if you want to help out a good cause, check it out.
  • Charlie Batch held his Toy Drive yesterday and had some help from some of his teammates signing autographs for people that donated toys.  It looks like he had a great turnout.  ILB Stevenson Sylvester tweeted a great shot of some of the huge boxes of toys that they collected at the event.
  • Some Steelers also participated in an event with KidsVoice and American Eagle for at risk teens.  American Eagle closed their doors for this private event and gave the kids who were all paired with a Steelers player and given a $200 gift card to buy clothes they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford.  Some of the Steelers that participated were Chris Carter, Mewelde Moore, Isaac Redman, Jerricho Cotchery, Marcus Gilbert, Keenan Lewis, Max Starks and Ike Taylor.  To read about the whole story and see some pictures, check out the Steelers website.
  • Rookie Marcus Gilbert was pretty excited and in a Do Not Disturb mode to watch the Annual Victoria Secret Fashion Show.  Here were some of his tweets during the show:

countdown! we are less than one hour away!!!!

Omg omg omg

@VictoriasSecret Is the best show ever! Next year I will be there!

  • He’s not a Steeler but he tweeted an accurate account of one.  Penguins Evgeni Malkin tweeted this on Sunday evening.  Pretty simple, to the point and 100% correct.

  • Quote of the week  goes to Big Ben:

“Defense stepped up huge. They carried us.”

“It’s kind of a mixed feeling-type thing,” Roethlisberger said. “You’re happy to get the win, but disappointed the way your offense played.”

  • And finally, your Youtube of the week is just a fun one I came across a couple weeks ago and have been saving it for when I didn’t come across something else that week.
