Panthers Get 1 Seed in the Southeast Region

After a tense week of waiting to see where Pitt would be seeded after their early exit from New York City at the hands of the Connecticut Huskies, the Panthers’ wait finally came to an end this evening as it was revealed that they were given the #1 seed in the Southeast Regional and the third seed overall.  The seeding reflected exactly where the Panthers would likely have been seeded before the UConn game as well and showed that the committee did not put a great deal of weight on the games from this past weekend, particularly Duke’s win over North Carolina earlier today but also Notre Dame’s win over Cincinnati and San Diego State’s win over BYU.

Pitt will open the NCAA Tournament on Thursday against the winner of the all-hyphen play-in game between UNC-Asheville and Arkansas-Little Rock in Washington DC before facing off against the winner of Butler and Old Dominion on Saturday.
